Hypertensive haemorrhage – high blood pressure is the most common cause of primary intracerebral haemorrhage (also known as haemorrhagic stroke). Typical locations include:
- basal ganglia and thalamus ~ 80%
- pons ~ 10%
- cerebellar hemispheres ~ 10%
